Five-year-old Ellenbrook model performs on the international stage

AN Ellenbrook model made her first walk on an international stage last week with an unusual twist – she’s five years old.

Zara Pannu (5) travelled from Ellenbrook to Long Beach, Los Angeles for the 2018 World Championships of Performing Arts held from July 6-15.

World Championships of Performing Arts is an annual Olympics-style competition for modelling, dancing, acting, vocals, instrumental and variety artists with contestants from 60 countries performing before a panel of judges from the entertainment industry.

Being the youngest among 65-70 contestants in the modelling category of 15 years and under was no disadvantage for Zara as she took home a gold medal in casual round modelling, a bronze medal in formal round modelling and a trophy for champion of the world in her age division.

Zara’s mum Shivani Seth said Zara’s modelling photos impressed the talent scout and she was able to enter without auditioning.

“Because Zara is a blogger on Instagram, a talent scout personally asked me if she wanted to take part in it to represent Australia,” she said.

“She has been a favourite at the competition, people were asking how at such a young age she was able to pose.”

Zara has been modelling since she was three-and-a-half years old but this was her first time entering a competition.

Ms Seth said Zara modelling internationally has always been one of her dreams and to be part of this event was the biggest opportunity she could ever think of.

“It’s just the beginning of her life and she has achieved so much,” she said.
