Laura PondThe Advocate

A FREE screening mammography service is visiting Lancelin this month.

Women aged 40 or older can access BreastScreen WA’s mobile service at Lancelin Hall from January 27 to February 6.

Medical director Elizabeth Wylie said screening mammography was the most effective method for early detection of breast cancer.

“Screening every two years is vitally important to increase the chance of a breast cancer being detected when it is too small to feel or be noticed,” she said.

“Finding a cancer at this early stage often means that the breast cancer is small and more treatable.”

Dr Wylie said screening mammograms were one of the best things women could do to look after their health.

“Breast screening saves lives and only takes 20 minutes,” she said.

The service will then move to Gingin, where it will be at Granville Civic Centre from February 7 to 17.
