The Swan Valley Wagon Trails owner’s vision is no longer fantasy after deciding to realise the concept.

Mr Gundry said the 90-minute ride on his new, fully restored tram along minor roads around Henley Brook would likely start this month.

‘The tram can hold 16 passengers and a lunch will be part of the ride,’ he said.

‘It will be perfect for a high tea or special occasions.’

Mr Gundry said he was negotiating to obtain a liquor licence in a bid to enjoy a glass of wine, while watching the Swan Valley sights.

He said the tram’s quaintness would be a hit with the community.

‘It is a replica of horse drawn trams from about a century ago and is the only double-decker horse drawn dinner tram in Australia.

‘The tram was sitting in my paddock for about five years. The concept has been on my ‘to do’ list because I believed it would be a nice way to experience the region.

‘Initially, the rides will be lunchtime Friday to Sunday but I hope to expand it to five days and include night rides.’

Mr Gundry said budgeting was being finalised but the all-inclusive ride was expected to cost about $95 per person. Call 0412 917 496.
