Gingin District High students have space to make new buddies

Montana ArdonThe Advocate

GINGIN District High School is the newest recipient of a Buddy Bench, thanks to the helping hands of team members from Bunnings Ellenbrook.

The Buddy Bench is an initiative from RadioWest and Bunnings, whereby schools and community members nominate to have a friendship chair installed in their school’s playground.

The concept of the Buddy Bench is to create a place where children are encouraged to sit when they are feeling left out or bullied at school.

If a classmate sees someone sitting on the bench they are urged to invite them to play, walk or talk with them.

They are a great way to encourage kids to play with one another during school breaks and to discourage bullying in primary schools.
