Girls charged over Perth fires

THREE girls have been charged after allegedly lighting fires in the carpark of an Ellenbrook shopping centre.

It is alleged at about 10.15pm yesterday, the girls set fire to a small tree on two separate island gardens within the carpark on Main Street.

It is further alleged a short time later they set two more fires at a water park at the intersection of Library Avenue and Verdant Vista.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services extinguished three fires and found a minor blaze which did not require extinguishing.

Two 13-year-olds and an 11-year-old, all from Ellenbrook, are due to appear before the Midland Children’s Court on January 8.

They are charged with wilfully lighting, or causing to be lit, a fire likely to injure or damage.
