Jancis and Grant Elphick, from Cherax Farm, won the best show award during the competition, which also attracted entrants from Victoria and New South Wales.

Forty-three olive oils were entered from 23 olive groves in four classes.

The Elphicks also claimed the class two award ” olives grown in a single grove with production more than 200 litres.

The Elphicks’ picturesque olive grove is located in the heart of the Darling Ranges and consists of Tuscan olive varieties, Frantoio and Pendolino.

Originally, they were interested in farming marron but eventually switched to olive growing.

Other major winners included Mick Ryan from Preston Valley Grove in Lowden and Ian Wildy from Third Pillar in Donnybrook.
