Inspired by her mother Karen, who was first diagnosed with bowel cancer almost five years ago, Lauren has opted to shave her head on March 16.

She said she would raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation’s shave, with the hope that her donations go towards finding a cure for the disease.

‘My original goal was $1000 but we achieved that in just three days, so we decided to aim for $5000,’ she said.

‘Mum was dumbfounded when I told her that I was doing it because she knows how much I love my hair.’ Lauren is just past the halfway mark to her new target, with six weeks to go.
