Have your say on sporting venue

Mayor Charlie Zannino said the DOS was an exciting, new facility that would provide recreation opportunities for the whole family.

‘Sporting grounds, dual-use paths, community buildings and playgrounds all feature in the design,’ he said.

Work is now underway at the site on the border of Ellenbrook, Aveley and The Vines, with the first stage expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The northern site will have two senior size football ovals, five junior football ovals, three cricket fields and a community building.

The second stage of the project will have four rectangular synthetic playing fields that can cater for soccer, lacrosse, touch football and most other training needs and an associated sporting pavilion.

In addition, the City is planning for a sports and exhibition centre adjacent to the playing fields that would cater for indoor sport, gymansium, fitness activites, child friendly services and events.

Residents, groups or sporting clubs interested in what will be developed at the DOS should attend the information night.

After the presentation, residents will be given an opportunity to ask questions of a panel of staff from the City.

The information night will be held at the Ellenbrook Place Office, above the Ellenbrook Community Library at 6.30pm.
