Montana ArdonThe Advocate

A HERD of alpacas were attacked and killed at their Henley Brook property by intruding dogs yesterday.

Four alpacas were found dead at a property on Saunders Street, and the fifth had to be put down after being mauled by two domestic dogs.

Swan Valley and Gidgegannup Ward councillor Darryl Trease said the City of Swan was aware of the attack.

“The matter is under investigation,” he said.

“The City will then take the appropriate action necessary.”

Cr Trease said the problem was ongoing.

“We’re having a few issues with domesticated dogs in urban fringe areas,” he said.

“And as houses get closer to the Swan Valley, it will become more of a problem.

“Once dogs get the taste of blood, that’s it.”
