HOUGHTON Winery is celebrating its 180th anniversary this weekend with a free event for all wine lovers.

The event, which only has 180 tickets on offer, will allow free entry for up to four people per registered ticket.

Each ticket will also come with a complimentary picnic pack, including a picnic towel, four stemless outdoor wine glasses and a bottle of Houghton white classic wine.

Houghton’s senior winemaker Ross Pamment said it was a huge milestone for the brand and one that was worth commemorating.

He said the event would include live music and award-winning wine.

“It is hugely important to us that we are able to celebrate with everyone who has supported us and enjoyed our wines over the years,” he said.

“That is why we are hosting this picnic and inviting locals to be part of our celebration. We hope to see a great turn out on the day and are looking forward to raising a glass to our 180 years with wines that we are very proud of.”

Food will be available from the cafe, but guests are also encouraged to bring their own picnic food.

Alcohol is not BYO but wine can be purchased at the Houghton cellar door.

The event will kick off from 11am to 3pm on March 11.
