HyperFest adds Amy Shark to bill following second place in Hottest 100

QUEENSLAND-based indie pop singer Amy Shark leads the second announcement for Midland’s HyperFest 2017 after placing second in Triple J’s Hottest 100 last month.

Shark will be joined by Melbourne singer-songwriter Tyne-James Organ, Mallrat, Ceres, Elora Danan with Daybreak, Conform, LC McKenzie, Vice Versa and The Encounters on the main stage.

The latest additions to the line-up bring the total bill to more than 65 acts, with rapper Allday, Canberra heavyweights Hands Like Houses, Tasmanian singer-songwriter Asta and Windang surf-rockers Hockey Dad being joined by Nicole Millar, Ocean Grove, Saviour, Totally Unicorn and Hannahband, as well as the latest announcements.

Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said local artists would also get the chance to shine across the festivals’ two main stages.

“The team is excited to announce that Lilt, Verge Collection, Rag N Bone, Premiss, Alex the Kid, Jacob Diamond will be joining the festival’s line-up on the day,” he said.

“Local DJs will also be on the decks all day in the silent disco, with DJ applications open now.”

HyperFest 2017 will also feature a foam dance pit, sideshow alley market, live art battles, silent disco, chill out stage, gourmet food vans, water slides, dunk tank, photo booth, games, merchandise and a signing tent for all of your favourite artists.

Midland/Guildford ward councillor Mark Elliott said HyperFest 2017 continued to be Perth’s biggest and best drug, smoke and alcohol free all-ages festival.

“The event is run by young people, for young people, so it has something for everyone,” he said.

“The Hyper Team of volunteers should be commended for the great job they do and it is great to see their success in continuing to build the festival.”

City of Swan’s HyperFest is on Saturday, 18 February at Midland Oval from noon to 9pm.

The festival, presented by Drug Aware, is an all-ages (12+) drug, smoke and alcohol free event.

Patrons can also sign up to the RAC Road Ready membership program to receive $5 off their Hyperfest ticket, as well as free popcorn and water (limited to one per person) at the festival.
