THREE Ellenbook residents have taken over the airwaves of Radio VCA 88.5fm and are chatting everything sports.
The new weekly show In The Sheds with Alby, Brucey and Donny is broadcast every Wednesday, with the three presenters inviting local sports stars and sports banter into the homes of people around Ellenbrook and the Swan Valley.
The volunteers are new to radio, but said the past nine shows had been a new and exciting experience for them.
Alan “Alby” Page said the trio had also set up a podcast for listeners and a Facebook and Twitter page, which was updated every day with new content.
He said he always had an interest in radio and had loved the experience so far.
“I had wanted to do it for a while, I’ve always had an interest in radio,” he said.
“We’ve only just started and are still learning things, but it’s definitely something I would love to do as a job.”
The show covers local sport, but touches on sport around Australia as well.
“We’ve been getting a great response from local clubs including Swan Valley Football Club, Swan Valley Cricket Club, Ellenbrook Eels, Ellenbrook Rabbitohs, Ellenbrook Rangers, Ellenbrook United, Ellenbrook Rovers and even the Ellenbrook Speedway,” he said.
“We have a couple of favourite segments as well which includes the Controversy Corner where we touch on topics in state and national sport, the Blow Torch where we put the heat on certain sporting teams or icons, and our favourite, Get around ‘Em where we promote great sporting achievements or selfless acts in the sporting world.”
Fellow presenter Donny Bell said being on radio for a sports fanatic was a dream.
“I’ve always been a sport nut and the having the chance to talk about it on radio with two mates is a dream,” he said.
“It’s been fantastic and it’s actually a bit depressing when I have to go to my everyday job.”
In The Sheds with Alby, Brucey and Donny is on every Wednesday night from 6.30 to 8.30 on VCA 88.5fm.
