Jason (16) said he was thrilled to receive the award.

‘I’ve been doing my apprenticeship for nearly two years and I’m enjoying every bit of it and learning new things,’ he said.

‘It makes me feel good that I can encourage other apprentices.

‘I’d like see how high I can take my career.’

ABN Training apprentice program manager Loris Moriconi said the awards recognised the cream of the crop.

‘Apprentices were nominated by their training manager in the categories of most improved, best first year, best second year and best third year apprentice,’ Mr Moriconi said.

The judges interviewed each of the nominees to find out more about the skills and knowledge they had gained as a building apprentice and their strengths, values and interests before revealing the winners.
