Kmart fanatics count down to the opening of a new store in Ellenbrook

KMART fanatics are counting down until the opening of a new store in Ellenbrook as part of a $63 million expansion of Ellenbrook Central.

The discount retailer has created a massive, cult following across the country, spawning Facebook pages Kmart Bargains, Kmart Mums Australia and Kmart Hacks which have hundreds of thousands of followers.

Ellenbrook Central owners Vicinity Centres said work on the expansion is expected to start mid-to-late 2019.

“The development involves the addition of approximately 12,000 square metres of new retail space, introducing a new Kmart, three mini majors, 16 new specialty retailers, two new pad sites and additional car parking,” a spokesperson said.

“Situated within one of the strongest growth corridors in Western Australia, the project will reinforce Ellenbrook Central as a dominant centre for outer north eastern Perth and capture additional trade from the growth corridor.”
