Laying the foundations

Joel KellyThe Advocate

The Ellenbrook Secondary College student has established a solid foundation of skills in his Certificate II building and construction course.

WorldSkills Australia is a competition for apprentice bricklayers to pit their skills achieved during their apprenticeship against one another.

Although Shaun hasn't started his apprenticeship yet, he has learnt a lot in his VET program and will compete against more experienced bricklayers.

He is completing on-the-job training in the Ellenbrook area in the lead-up to his graduation at the end of the year, when he has already been promised an apprenticeship.
