WEST Swan MLA Rita Saffioti took to State Parliament last week to call for an urgent upgrade of Lord Street.

Ms Saffioti said the road was now at breaking point.

“Massive congestion is having a daily impact on the lives of residents,” she said.

“Those living in Ellenbrook, Henley Brook, Brabham and Dayton are suffering ever-increasing waiting times.”

In October last year, Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the Department of Transport would review transport requirements along that corridor.

In December, he confirmed that the recommendations were before Government and the request for an upgrade would be considered.

“The only option is a full upgrade of Lord Street,” Ms Saffioti said.

“This must be made a priority in the State Budget this year.”
