The bird was found in bulrushes in Bull Creek on May 22 after a Canning River Residents Environmental Protection Association member reported it.

WA Conservation of Raptors members cared for the osprey, named Oskarlini, until June 20 when it was released near where it was found.

The City of Canning natural areas team found the sick osprey and took it to the WA Conservation of Raptors in Brigadoon. More than 20 onlookers watched as Oskarlini was released.
