Having lost her mother about 30 years ago, Ms Owen (33) said it was her own battle with post-natal depression that was the catalyst for her to do the skydive.

‘I believe my mother suffered from depression before tragically ending her life,’ she said. ‘I recently battled 3½ years of post-natal depression, which was my darkest battle.

‘If I conquered that depression, I’m sure I will conquer my fear of heights by jumping out of the plane.

‘Since winning my battle I have managed to lose 13.5kg and am now a very happy and healthy mum of a beautiful little girl.’

Ms Owen has already raised more than $1000 for Beyondblue.

‘I just want people out there to know that there is hope and there is a way through the fog.

‘If I can just inspire or help just one person in this world from ending up like my biological mother then will be all worth it.’
