The station, which has been broadcasting for the past seven years, is run entirely by enthusiastic music lovers, with a management committee comprising experienced and energetic office bearers.

The station broadcasts 24/7, providing music and entertainment to a large and diverse listening audience with many cultural backgrounds in the Swan Valley and surrounding semi-rural areas.

Among the new recruits is long-term resident Chris Hultink, who is looking to share his passion for the louder side of music.

On Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm he plays rock, punk, metal and all sub-genres inbetween on his show Between Rock and a Hard Place.

Dale Payne and Simon Angus are on air on Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm with their program The Bench Boys.

Both recruits come from sports-crazed families.

Payne was brought up by parents who used to be jockeys and horse trainers, while Angus played everything from soccer and cricket to a range of indoor sports.

Radio Ellenbrook broadcasts on a narrowcast wave length in a 10km radius from Ellenbrook.

It is working on changing to a community broadcasting radio station which will give it the ability to reach a much wider audience in a 30km radius.
