THE National Economic Development Conference was held at Mandoon Estate in Caversham last week.

Held in Perth for the first time, more than 170 people from across Australia and internationally attended the three-day event .

Key speakers included Governor of WA Kerry Sanderson AC, national chair of Economic Development Australia Mark Holdsworth and Wendy Dupley, from the Economic Developers Association of Canada.

The event recognises industry leaders and rising stars through 12 National Awards for Excellence.

City of Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the awards were a great opportunity for those in the industry to celebrate best practice and acknowledge the good work of others in the field.

Cr Wainwright also presented a cheque of $2000 to the RSPCA to recognise its partnership with the City of Swan in maintaining the Swan Valley as a Humane Food Region.

“More than 30 local Swan Valley restaurants and cafes are now members of the program and support is still growing,” he said.
