Margaret River Providore has expanded its operations alongside sister business The Margaret River Chocolate Company on West Swan Road which is bound to excite locals and tourists alike.
Providore co-owners Patrick Coward and Martin Black said expanding to the Swan Valley was a ‘natural fit in a little piece of paradise’ and it was an exciting time for the business.
‘It’s all about enhancing the tourism offering so that the Swan Valley has much more diversity while keeping the vineyard aspect ” we have our own vineyard and wine too,’ Mr Coward said.
‘Everything is done by hand and our speciality chocolate liqueurs are made using grape spirit from the Swan Valley with fine African cocoa.’
Customers will also be able to enjoy tastings of the Coward & Black range of wines and Providore jams and preserves onsite as well.
‘In the years to come I think Perth will be defined by places like the Swan Valley – it will be like the Central Park of New York where people can come here and escape inner suburban life,’ Mr Black said. ‘The more variety you have here the more customers come to the Swan Valley.’
City of Swan Mayor Charlie Zannino said Providore would complement businesses already operating in the area and add to the region’s reputation as a destination for foodies.
Mr Coward said another Providore speciality is ingredient packs on sale to ‘help home cooks make things that are special’.
‘You get people watching TV cooking shows; people want to cook and they want to be really good but they are really nervous so we have put all the ingredients together so you can make vanilla, cranberry and white chocolate muffins at home for example.’
‘We will also be running chocolate and wine master classes from October where we will match the regions of African chocolate to West Australian wine regions.’
The brand new facility will be open every day from 9am to 5pm and offer a variety of free wine, chocolate liqueur and food tastings.
