Joel KellyThe Advocate

Caversham Community Centre will cost about $3.71 million – slightly more than the original estimate of $3.67 million in the City’s long-term financial plan.

It will be built on the corner of Suffolk Street and Flindell Avenue and be at the site of a proposed sporting oval.

Features will include a function hall, kitchen, meeting and activity room, clubrooms, change rooms and a playground.

The boomerang shape of the building is designed to envelop and direct patrons from the Suffolk Street car park, while allowing more viewing room along the convex shape facing the oval.

Currently, Caversham Hall on West Swan Road is used for functions but the use of the hall will be decided following construction of the new community centre.
