Juveniles in custody after Ellenbrook bushfire

UPDATE: TWO juveniles are in custody after allegedly starting a fire today behind Aldi Ellenbrook.

Police are calling for any witnesses who saw the fire start to call Ellenbrook Police on 9297 9800 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

EARLIER: Water bombers have been sent to help firefighters on the ground battle a bushfire that started in Ellenbrook this afternoon.

DFES has issued a bushfire advice warning for people living in southern parts of Ellenbrook in an area bounded by The Promenade, Pinaster Parade and Main Street.

The fire started near the intersection of The Promenade and Pinaster Avenue and was reported just after 1pm.

Residents are advised although there is no immediate danger to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

“Bushfire advice has been issued for people bounded by The Promenade, Pinaster Parade and Main Street in southern parts of Ellenbrook in the City of Swan,” DFES said in the alert.

“There is no threat to lives or homes. There is a lot of smoke in the area.

“Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.”
