FIREFIGHTERS are mopping up after a bushfire which had threatened lives and homes north-east of Perth.

An all clear bushfire alert has been issued for Lower Chittering by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Residents are asked to drive slowly due to smoke and emergency services personnel working in the area.

Firefighters are patrolling and will monitor the area for the rest of the week.

The fire started near Chittering Valley Road in the Shire of Chittering shortly before 1pm on Tuesday.

“The bushfire is no longer impacting the community in this area,” DFES said in the alert.

“Firefighters will monitor the area for the rest of the week.

“The danger has passed but you need to remain vigilant in case the situation changes.”
