Perth Royal Show: locals do well in various show awards

CAVERSHAM resident Robert Harwood picked up second prize in the amateur celebration cake section at the Royal Show last week.

He also received a ribbon for the ‘exhibitor showing the most potential’ in the student/amateur selection.

A handful of locals were also successful in the Creative Craft Pavilion.

Boasting 280 classes in the competition – ranging from blacksmithing to calligraphy, stuffed toys to crochet and bookbinding – there was a category for all ages.

Ellenbrook’s Concetta Holmes took out the cuddly toy category with her cheery clown.

The winning clown and all other exhibits in this category will go to sick kids in the Perth Children’s Hospital.

The cuddly collection will be presented to the hospital on behalf of the exhibitors.

Henley Brook’s Pauline Carroll thrilled Dr Who fans with her cross-stitch wall hanging featuring all 12 doctors.

The exhibit earned Ms Carroll a highly commended award from the judges.
