STUDENTS at Ellen Stirling Primary School dressed in purple and raised $4385 for charity after taking part in Purple Haze Day.

The school, which has taken part in the event for the past five years, raises money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation and has raised over $12,000 since the event first began.

As well as a purple dress day, students also take part in a fashion parade and best dressed competitions, with prizes donated by local businesses.

Principal Dean Goldspink said the day was a huge success.

“It’s humbling to see children raising money for others, with such greater need than themselves,” Dr Goldspink said.

“All of the school staff worked tirelessly on the day and the students had a great time, although the main message was raising money for the Starlight Foundation was never forgotten.

“I am very proud of the achievements. The Staff, students and supporting school families certainly rallied together to support the final money total.”
