WEST Swan candidate Rita Saffioti has announced plans to protect the future of the Swan Valley if elected on March 11.
The Labor candidate committed to reviewing and finalising the Swan Valley Development Plan and legislation and has promised to incorporate the concerns of the community.
As part of the plan Labor would introduce a new Swan Valley State Government Board to ensure the views of local stakeholders were heard.
Ms Saffioti said a |McGowan Labor government would support viticulture in the Swan Valley, including assessing the current regulatory and legislative costs for local growers and producers.
She said Labor would also work with the Water Corporation to ensure agricultural land was given sufficient priority in relation to water allocations.
“A McGowan Labor government will support the Swan Valley now and into the future,” she said.
“I am proud to announce our plan. Swan Valley growers and local residents deserve to have both a clear and consistent plan from State Government and an active and energised tourism strategy.”
