IT is an opportunity worth taking up. To see works, some never shown in public before, by the late elder statesman of WA art Robert Juniper.

In something of a retrospective, a collection of more than 90 paintings, etchings, drawings and screen prints are on display at the Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park in Middle Swan until November 6.

Gallery owner and fellow artist Ron Gomboc said the exhibition included landscapes and figurative works typical of his ability as a draftsman “and his wonderful ability to draw”.

“I feel very honoured to have worked with Bob since the ‘70s; he was a dear friend and a man of integrity,” Gomboc said.

Also highly anticipated on the WA scene is the City of Joondalup’s 2016 invitation art award exhibition at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City from October 16 to 29.

It will include three works from up to 15 artists using painting, photography, sculpture and installation.

Both exhibitions are important in challenging the viewer to see their surrounds in a different way.
