The Wind in the Willows is a whole-school production that features 40 students from years 4 to 12.

Year 12 student Jezzi Hatch has one of the main roles as Toad.

“I share the role with another student,” she said.

“It’s good because all the main roles are split, so it gives more people an opportunity to be involved.”

Drama teacher Simon James is directing the production.

“It’s based on the children’s book by Kenneth Graham,” he said.

Mr James said The Wind in the Willows could be enjoyed by all ages.

“I remember it being read to me and me reading it when I was little,” he said.

“Lots of adults remember it from their childhood, it’s a bit nostalgic.

“It’s also fun for the kids to be in a different time period.”

Ms Hatch said a lot of work had gone into preparing for the production.

“We auditioned in term three last year,” she said.

“And then we found out our roles in the holidays and rehearsals started in term four.

“We’ve been practising three times a week since then.

“I’m pretty nervous, but it’ll be good to finally show off what we’ve been working on for so long.

“Mum’s booked out 25 seats one night – the whole middle section.”

The Wind in the Willows is showing at Swan Christian College on Thursday at 7.30pm, Friday at 7.30pm and Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children and are available at www.trybooking.com/182836 or by calling 9374 8300.
