AFTER more than a year of planning and construction, Aveley Skate Path launched with an action-packed event earlier this month.

The opening event brought 10-to-17-year-olds and their families together for a day of skating.

City of Swan Mayor Charlie Zannino said young people in Aveley had keenly anticipated the opening of the new skate facility.

“Aveley’s young people have been involved in their new skate pathway from its inception to its completion,” he said.

“After initialising the project with a petition handed to the City in March last year, locals helped with design and, most recently, the painting of the facility.”

Activities for the day included jumps from PCYC, bike maintenance checks and skate, scooter and BMX workshops.
