Henley Brook resident Julie Clark was 156kg when her doctor said these words to her and started an inspiring weight loss story.

Two years later, she weighs 50kg less and is well on her way to achieving her goal weight of 80kg.

Much of her weight loss journey has been with the support of Ellenbrook Community Weight Loss Club, which named her Slimmer of the Year twice.

In her first year, Ms Clark dropped 34kg, while last year she shed 16kg ” all with no help from lap banding or gastric bypass surgery.

The 34kg loss in her first year was the second highest loss in 40 Weight Watchers-affiliated clubs in WA.

Ms Clark said her two teenage granddaughters Candy and Billie and her youngest son provided inspiration for her to drop weight.

‘They’re marvellous and encouraging ” even when we shop they help me keep on track with what we eat,’ she said.

Candy and Billie also attend Weight Watchers with Ms Clark each week to support her.

Ellenbrook Community Weight Loss Club president Shirley Sardelich said Ms Clark was an inspiration to the club.

‘Julie is one of the most dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated members of the club,’ she said.

‘In the two years she has been with the club she has never missed a club meeting, regardless of whether she gains weight.’

The club holds meetings every Wednesday from 6.45pm to 8pm at the Woodlakes Community Hall in Ellenbrook.

Men and women of all ages are welcome.
