Ellenbrook Shopping Centre has unveiled an award-winning solar powered seat designed for customers to ensure their electronic devices are always charged and ready to go.
The seat, Steora Smart Bench is a solar-powered seat which collects and stores energy from the sun and transfers it to mobile phones and tablets, is first of its kind to be installed in an Australian shopping centre.
Vicinity Shopping Centres executive general manager Justin Mills said the Smart Bench was the firs product of its kind to be installed in a retail centre environment nationally, and was another demonstration of Vicinity’s commitment to innovation.
The revolutionary bench can collect and store up to 100watts of electricity every hour – which is enough energy to power a mobile device for a week, event if the sun is shining.
WA regional general manager Richard Terhorst said the smart bench was an internationally recognised innovation.
“We’re excited to be bringing this to our customers at Ellenbrook Central Shopping Centre as part of our commitment to create connected communities,” he said.
“We know our customers love to stay connected while visiting our centres and the Smart Bench helps to make this possible.
“It had an in-built 4G mobile router which provides fat, free internet connection and wireless technology to charge and connect any electronic device.”
