Street art deters graffiti vandalism

Sally McGlewThe Advocate

Ying and Yang Designs co-owners Yolande Stirling and Jenny Vellnagel commissioned the art on the front of their shop late last year after repeated graffiti vandalism on their walls.

"As quickly as we could get it off, it was back up again," Ms Stirling said.

"Now we don't get tagged; there is a code that once a street artist has signed their name, it deters people from putting graffiti there."

Ms Vellnagel said they wanted to add vibrancy to the shopfront on Fitzgerald Street so they got in touch with Perth street artist Steve Browne.
