Summer rain leaves thousands of homes without power

Staff WriterThe Advocate

MORE than 10,000 homes across the Perth metro area were left without power after rainfall this morning.

Homes from Two Rocks to South Lakes were impacted by the outages, which stemmed from rain that began just after 3am.

Western Power said the rain, combined with dust on pole-top lines had caused “arcing” in system insulators.

At present, Munster, Drummond Cove and Coogee were among the worst affected suburbs, with about 20 suburbs impacted across the metro area.
