SPARKLING wine lovers will be in their element next Friday when Perth’s only certified organic winery hosts an evening of wine and nibbles as part of the Swan Valley’s Entwined festival.
Harris Organic Wines will celebrate Entwined’s third year by offering a sundowner event at the Baskerville winery, where owner and winemaker Duncan Harris will demonstrate how to make sparkling wine.
“Guests will learn how we make sparkling in traditional method, one handed down from winemaker to winemaker,” he said.

READ NOW“First we make the base of the wine from my organic grapes.
“Then we also do a few special things to it like add yeast and sugar, then bottle it.
“It then sits down in my underground cellar for a minimum of three years.”
Mr Harris then hand disgorges it, which he will be demonstrating.
Patrons will be able to taste the sparkling blanc de blanc and shiraz before and after the disgorging.
“It’s a reasonably simple process but it takes a lot of labour,” Mr Harris said.
Established in 1998, Harris Wines is set on a 3ha property just off Great Northern Highway.
It houses 3000 organic vines, which Mr Harris said had many benefits.
“Firstly there are the health benefits from organic grapes,” he said.
“There are no chemicals in it.
“It is also better for the environment, as well as the grapes being grown better than they would on a mass produced vineyard.”
The Entwined Sparkling Event is on Friday, November 4 from 5pm-7.30pm at 179 Memorial Ave, Baskerville.
Tickets are $35, including food and sparkling wine tastings.
Organic wines can be purchased separately on the night to take home.
