Swan Valley supper is Entwined in the Valley’s best kept secret

Belinda CiprianoThe Advocate

A DINNER so secret that guests won’t find out where it is until the day is just one of the hallmark events that form part of this year’s Entwined in the Valley program.

The inaugural Swan Valley Secret Supper is set to serve up an evening of enchantment and rustic charm of the Swan Valley in an exquisite location.

Featuring guest performers, an exclusive and intimate dining space and live artwork, guests will be asked to pick up their own picnic basket and spend an idyllic day foraging for their choice of banquet fare around the Swan Valley.

James Talijancich, winemaker and ambassador for this year’s program, said he was looking forward to the food and wine weekend. He said the event was the perfect platform for winemakers and creators to come together and share their stories of the past, present and future.

“These events are crucial to our success and for the public to experience first-hand what we do best,” he said.

Mr Talijancich, who joined the family’s winemaking business in 1977 as a third generation winemaker, has learnt the ins and outs of the craft.

Talijancich Wines is famous for its classic fortified wines and focuses on making wines from locally-sourced fruit.

“We are spoilt here, knowing we can produce great table wines and fortifieds from one region and very few wine regions in the world have this ability,” he said.

Mr Talijancich will be joined by chef Michael Hartnell, artist Jude Taylor and grape grower and producer Marlene Katich as festival ambassadors of the weekend of food, wine, music, comedy and art.

The Swan Valley Secret Supper is one of more than 60 individual events taking place.
