City of Swan Mayor Charlie Zannino said staff and volunteers at the centre prided themselves on providing outstanding customer service.

Cr Zannino said the accreditation was a new quality assurance stamp that showed the city had the cultural awareness, consumer protection and respect for Chinese travellers required to ensure they enjoyed their stay.

Swan Valley/Gidgegannup Ward Councillor Darryl Trease said over the past 10 years there had been a considerable increase in Chinese visitors to Australia.

“With China’s growing middle class, overseas travel is within the reach of many more people,” Cr Trease said.

“With the visitor centre having China Ready accreditation, we are well placed to capitalise on this growth for the Swan Valley region.

“This will help us to more effectively promote the many attractions in the region to a wider market.”
