Residents are expected to raise concerns regarding Midland Oval and are calling on the council to defer its rates review until after a review of the Swan Valley Act and Local Government Act have taken place.

Mr Clifford said residents were outraged their rates were being used for purposes they didn’t support and didn’t know enough about.

“The council plans to spend in excess of $30 million on purchasing land for the Midland Oval development, but residents don’t feel they’ve been properly consulted about this expenditure,” he said.

“I strongly encourage the City of Swan to listen to residents to go back to the drawing board and come back with a plan that meets the needs of the region, takes into account resident’s concerns and which maintains an appropriate amount of green space for Midland.”

Mr Clifford will meet with residents at the Midland Town Hall today from 5pm, with the meeting to begin at 5.30pm.
