Warning issued for out-of-control bushfire in Chittering

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has upgraded the alert level for a bushfire burning in Chittering to a Watch and Act, due to changing wind conditions.

The fire started near the intersection of Great Northern Highway and Blue Plains Road in Chittering at about 1pm, and is moving in a north easterly direction.

DFES described the blaze as “out of control and unpredictable”.

A number of roads have been closed including Great Northern Highway between Blue Plains Road and Maddern South Road, in both directions.
