The Water Corporation gave the Shire of Gingin facility endorsement through its waterwise aquatic centre program, run with the Leisure Institute of WA.
Shire president David Roe said actions taken to improve water efficiency included the installation of low-flow shower heads, dual-flush toilet system and educational signage.
Cr Roe said landscaping also featured waterwise native plants and mulch.
“Monitoring submeters have also been earmarked for installation shortly, which will record and analyse water use on the potable and pool water feeds, and irrigation solenoid more accurately,” he said.
“We are mindful that ongoing water conservation practices play an important part in sustainable service delivery for the shire.”
Formal acknowledgement will take place at the Leisure Institute’s aquatics state conference in August.
