West Swan MLA joins call for footpath to Caversham Primary

Montana ArdonThe Advocate

Challenging Ms Saffioti for her seat in next year’s state election, Cr Henderson last week called for the 70km/h speed limit on Coast Road near Caversham Primary School to be lowered.

Ms Saffioti told The Advocate she had been in contact with the City of Swan since June.

“At a recent fair in Dayton, a number of parents raised the lack of a footpath to the school with me,” she said.

“It is simply not good enough to have no safe way to attend the local school.

“I immediately sought an update from the City of Swan and will be running a community campaign to try and secure a footpath as soon as possible and make the road safer.”

Ms Saffioti said the City of Swan had informed her that it had plans to extend the footpath by 260m – to reach the school – by the end of the year.

“This is an issue that arises in many new suburbs and needs to be addressed when we plan for new suburbs,” she said.
