IN response to Highway Safety in spotlight, Advocate, May 15, the biggest issue is that for vehicles entering Great Northern Highway at Rutland and Warbrook roads, you can’t see past the northbound vehicles turning left.
The slip lanes need to be longer and further to the left to enable vehicles stopped at the line to have a clear view of the highway.
It is comical to hear our leaders say, ‘The new highway will make it better’.
Light-vehicle traffic will increase on this section of Great Northern Highway in the years to come.
Heavy vehicles are not the problem here.
The other wise man said, ‘We could reduce the speed to 60km/h’.
How can we move forward when we have the handbrake on?
