SWAN Districts will be hoping to put up a good show against the Wanneroo Giants in Baseball WA State League action this Sunday.

The club is coming off a 10-3 win over Rockingham Rams at Hourglass Reserve and losses in its first two games.

Manager Adam Courcha said Swans “have been notorious slow starters” but had persevered against the Rams.

“Squaring off against former Perth Heat pitcher Ben Grice, the young Swans were up against it but persevered and took advantage of some sloppy defensive errors by the Rams,” he said.

“Nick Gillies took to the mound for Swan Districts limiting the Rams to just one run to end first inning ahead 4-1.”

Dillan Clarkson made short work of the Rockingham hitters in the ninth to close out the game and give Swan Districts its first win of the season.

Shortstop Lincoln Kempton finished the game 2-5 with two runs batted in and Dillan Clarkson picked up his first State League win of his young career.

The Swan Districts-Giants clash is at Mateljan Park, Madeley, this Sunday, at 3.15pm.
