PERTH Lynx’s American professional player Sami Whitcomb has signed with the Seattle Storm of the WNBA, and will join the team at the end of the WNBL season.

Enjoying an MVP calibre season, Whitcomb’s performances for the Perth Lynx have caught the eye of WNBA scouts, with the star former Rockingham Flames guard set to attend Storm training camp looking to secure a permanent contract with the club.

Whitcomb averages a league-leading 24.1 points per game with the Lynx this season, adding 4.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.8 steals per outing.

Now heading to a Seattle team brimming with world-class talent, Whitcomb has the opportunity to play alongside all-time WNBA great Sue Bird, reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Breanna Stewart and Australians Abby Bishop and Jenna O’Hea.

With three games remaining in the WNBL regular season, Whitcomb’s focus remains on securing a finals berth with the Lynx and claiming the team’s first championship as a new-look franchise.
