Cricket: Midland-Guildford to open season at Gosnells

MIDLAND-Guildford will play its first game of the upcoming WA Premier Cricket season away at Gosnells on October 8.

The 2016-17 WA Premier Cricket season fixtures, released last week, give the Swans a good opportunity to have a positive opening month, with rounds two and four at their home ground Lilac Hill against University and South Perth.

The final will be played at the WACA Ground across two days on Saturday and Sunday, March 25-26.

The One Day League final will be played on Sunday 5 March.

The first and second grade fixtures include 15 games, with eight one-day fixtures and seven two-day fixtures.

The season will run in five blocks; four one-day matches, four two-day matches, three one-day matches, three two-day matches and a final round of 50-over matches before finals.

Among the features is a round 5 grand final re-match between reigning premiers Rockingham-Mandurah and Fremantle at Lark Hill.

The first day of Round 14 has also been tentatively scheduled as a ‘Past Players’ Round’ across the competition.

The third and fourth grade fixtures include 13 games, with six one-day fixtures and seven two-day fixtures.

The season will run in five blocks; three one-day matches, four two-day matches, two one-day matches, three two-day matches and a final round of 50-over matches before finals. rounds 3 and 9 are general byes.

The colts fixtures include five rounds, with 17 teams competing including the Country XI.

The three groups have been split based on last year’s performance into groups of six, six and five.
