Football: Ellenbrook Eels too slick for Brentwood

Lisa ThomasThe Advocate

The heat was on early as Brentwood threw everything at the young Eels in the first quarter, however the boys from Ellenbrook showed superior skill and poise to outclass the Bulldogs with slick ball movement and an impressive running game.

At the halfway point of the year, the Eels are well placed, sitting equal third on the ladder with six wins and three losses, and only two premiership points from top place.

With record numbers at the Eels in 2017, new coach Justin Wood has the side well-drilled and fitter than ever and are placed to make a big run into the back end of the year.

The Eels reserves remain unbeaten after nine games to sit three games clear at the top of the table, while the colts defeated Secret Harbour by 10 points in a highly skilled contest.

The thirds were defeated by the Ballajura Royals by three points, despite a tight battle.

This weekend, the Eels host St Norbert’s in the league and reserves, while the colts take on Brentwood-Booragoon and the thirds battle with top-of-the-table Warnbro.

The club is hosting a Mexican night following the game.
