Football: three of four Ellenbrook Eels teams slip into next round finals

Montana ArdonThe Advocate

THREE of four teams from the Ellenbrook Eels Football Club have progressed to the next round of finals, with the colts heading straight to the grand final.

The young Eels beat Belmont by the narrowest of margins in a nail biting game at Belmont’s Forster Park last weekend.

Belmont led by two goals but the Eels managed to fight back, with the final score 6.3 (39) to 5.8 (38).

The colts team will have a rest this weekend before playing the winner of this weekend’s semi-final.

The league side also won away from home, taking down Piara Waters 13.12 (90) to 10.1 (61).

They will fight for a spot in the grand final against Nollamara away from home on Saturday.

Despite a narrow three-point loss against archrivals Swan Valley last weekend, the Eels reserves will have a chance to redeem themselves against Mosman Park on Saturday, when they will also vie for grand final berth.

The thirds bowed out of this season gracefully to Gosnells, going down by 40 points at Coolbinia Reserve in their elimination final.
