Golfers weather storm

It was played in unfavourable weather conditions, with 37 players braving the conditions for the 36-hole stroke event.

Scores were high except for the winner Marg Wetherley, from Guilderton, who played outstanding golf for rounds of 86 and 88, clearly winning by 14 shots from Lee Hunter (Ledge Point) and Glenis Just in third, who has won the last five championships.

Ledge Point was very successful, with the Open closed nett winner Faye Paull (160 nett) winning on a countback from Ledge Point’s Belinda Fischer, also on 160 nett. In the Open division, Guilderton’s Anne Gault was the winner with 163 nett, with runner-up going to Debbie Gibson from Jurien Bay with 164 nett. The Veterans section was won by Lancelin’s June Gooch.
