Caroline Frank, The AdvocateThe Advocate

The Ellenbrook Eels Netball Club will be fielding teams at the Kingsway Sporting Complex from seniors (open age), U/16, U/13, U/12, U/11, U/10 and Modified 7 & 8 and all new players are more than welcome.

Eels Football Club president Ronnie Hobbs said the club was excited about having a netball club play under the Eels logo.

‘This will further promote our sporting brand to a wider range of members and we believe this will also strengthen our already strong family culture,’ he said.

‘Having played football in country South Australia where every football club has a netball club that plays under the same banner, I’ve seen first-hand the benefits expanding our football club’s profile as this will allow more people to join the Eels family.’

Netball coach Kerry Menaglio said her 18-year-old daughter suggested creating the Eels Netball Club.

‘My husband plays for the Eels Football Club so we got in touch with the president of the Eels and then it went from there.

‘The girls will play at Wanneroo Districts Netball Association which is played at Kingsway Sporting Complex so they can play teams from Hamersley, Joondalup, Yanchep, Landsdale so it will be a good competition.

‘I’m hoping the girls have fun and hopefully win some games.’ The season starts in May with registrations early January.
