Rugby League: Ellenbrook Rabbitohs celebrate first premiership

THE Ellenbrook Rabbitohs Rugby League Club are celebrating their first premiership after the girls’ League Tag team won their grand final.

The girls, aged from 12-16, dominated the Rockingham Sharks 24-4 at Dorrien Gardens in Leederville with some spectacular tries and tags.

Rabbitohs player Natahlia Thompson was named Player of the Day after the match.

The boys’ under-13 team also made the grand final, but went down 18-10 to the South Perth Lions after a hard-fought game.

The club – only in their second league season – also had their under-12 team make the quarter final, and under-11 team make the semi final.

The winners of last year’s NRL Grassroots Club of the Year will expand and enter an under-18 team, third grade team and women’s League Tag in the senior league competition in 2017.

The next touch season starts on Friday, October 14 at Arbor Grove sports grounds in Ellenbrook.
